DISCOVER SOME TRENDS AND STYLES OF ELOPEMENT WEDDINGS IN PORTUGAL.

FIRST, KNOW WHAT ELOPEMENT WEDDING IS.

For us, the definition of an Elopement Wedding is, above all, the authenticity of a couple. It is the experience of an intimate wedding deliberately designed, focused on what truly matters. It is to provide you with the absolute freedom to have a wedding in the way, where, and how you envision it.

However, due to misconceptions found on the internet, many believe that elopements prohibit inviting anyone, and that doing so would no longer make it an elopement.

HOW LONG DOES AN ELOPEMENT LAST?

There are no rules in Elopements, and the timing is something we can’t answer precisely—it all depends. One thing is certain: an Elopement is not a photoshoot that lasts 1 to 2 hours, as I see many advertising online.

Imagine your wedding day. Would you hire a photographer for just a few hours? The fact that it’s just the two of you or you have a small guest list doesn’t change that it’s the most special day of your life and should be captured in its entirety.

We recommend a full-day record, as in traditional weddings, but if that’s not possible, at least 5 to 6 hours should be reserved for the day.

Which place and style should I choose for my Elopement in Portugal?

The first question we always ask couples who approach us with an interest in having a wedding for two or renewing their vows here in Portugal is: what is your style? What do you love doing together? What is your shared dream?

Portugal, being a small country but rich in culture, art, and natural landscapes, offers the possibility to create any type of elopement you imagine.

ELOPEMENT IN NATURAL LOCATIONS

Getting married with nature as a witness to your love is the most sought-after style by more romantic couples. In Portugal, there is no shortage of beautiful and inspiring places.

One of the most sought-after places for this type of elopement is the Serra de Sintra, just a few minutes from downtown Lisbon, where romance is everywhere.

The couple Tamires and Rafael, during their vow renewal trip, decided to stay in a charming 150-year-old hotel, “Chalet Saudade,” in the heart of Sintra, and from there, they went to the paradisiacal Azenhas do Mar, also located in Sintra.

Cristina and Vitor, who also love nature, chose to venture a bit further and go to the city of Ericeira, where they exchanged vows atop a cliff with a beautiful view of the beach at sunset.

Elopement Styles – LUXURY ELOPEMENT IN PALACES AND CASTLES

Also highly sought after by romantic brides who have always dreamed of a fairy-tale wedding. In Portugal, there is no shortage of palaces and castles that seem straight out of a fairy tale.

To formalize their union, Mónica and Simão chose the Monserrate Palace to celebrate their love.

Elaine and Christian decided to renew their 25 years of marriage at the luxurious Seteais Palace.

Elopement Styles – URBAN ELOPEMENT THROUGH THE STREETS OF LISBON

Another highly sought-after style of elopement in Portugal, particularly by younger and more alternative couples, is urban elopements through the streets of Lisbon. As Lisbon is a very busy city, especially during the high season with many tourists, dealing with unexpected situations is part of the experience. But it also turns out to be a great adventure.

Bride Aline and Adler opted for this type of elopement, and it was a truly emotional experience, with the groom even crying with emotion during the vow exchange.

Elopement Styles – ELOPEMENT IN PORTUGUESE VINEYARDS

Who hasn’t heard of the world-famous Port Wine? I’m sure you have! Portugal is renowned for its delicious wines and beautiful vineyards.

For wine lovers, getting married in a vineyard is a perfect choice. This is exactly what the couple Beatriz and Vinícius decided when they chose to marry at the Quinta de Alcube in Setúbal.

THEMATIC ELOPEMENTS

Another elopement style option is thematic weddings, where the couple can make their dream come true according to their wishes. Brazilian blogger Bruna Pereira and Conrado stopped by Lisbon and decided to renew their first wedding anniversary.

Since Bruna has Portuguese ancestry, the theme chosen was Portuguese tiles. The ceremony was held with the 25th of April Bridge and the Tagus River as the backdrop.

RELIGIOUS ELOPEMENT

When choosing elopement styles in Portugal, it doesn’t necessarily need to be symbolic or civil. Brazilian couples, even if they are not residing in or present in Portugal before the wedding day, can still marry here through a religious ceremony. One of the most sought-after places by Brazilians for religious elopements is the Sanctuary of Fátima.

Now that you know some styles, this post also gives you an idea of how much it costs to have an Elopement in Portugal.

So, did you like the endless possibilities of having your Elopement and turning a trip into an unforgettable experience?
